Plan for London's Airport/ HS2Hub By Sir Terry Farrell
Futuristic image of a major new development built in one of Britain’s poorest neighbourhoods and around the nation’s first high-speed rail super hub have been released.
The regeneration vision for Park Royal City shows 12,000 gleaming new homes, 115,000 extra jobs and a light-railway, dubbed the ‘jobs express’, built on an unrivalled convergence of transport routes in north-west London.
The artists’ impressions, which have been drawn up by internationally renowned architect Sir Terry Farrell, show vast tracts of derelict or underused industrial land - around Old Oak Common in NW10 - transformed into London’s newest city.

Bewl Water Drought declared
Bewl Water reservoir, which serves Kent and parts of East Sussex, is only 41% full, well below the long term average of 88%. CPRE Kent have been saying for some time that there has been a lack of investment in new sources of supply to meet the projected increase in demand arising from climate change and population growth in the South east.
Southern Water is planning to tap the River Medway to top up Bewl Water but there are fears that this will damage water quality.

Lydd Airport public inquiry to be held
Eric Pickles, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government has called in the decision to expand Lydd airport’s runway and build a new terminal building, for review at a public inquiry.
Controversial plans to develop Lydd airport received planning approval, after Shepway councillors voted 27 votes to 12 to permit construction of a 294m runway extension with a 150m starter apron, and a new terminal capable of handling 500,000 passengers a year.

Dover Harbour for sale?
The Dover Society has made representation (see below) to ensure that historic buildings, several pictures and artifacts are secured for the town. It also insists that town improvements regarding traffic and the sea front are put in hand. The society assumes that a sale is a foregone conclusion. It welomes the proposed trust fund which will receive 10% of the Harbour Board profits; it supports the scheme for worker participation. KFAS Chairman, John Walker, has written to the Minister in support of the Dover Society's views.
